The Hike Syndrome

15 Jun

Now What?

This is the story of a true friend I lost recently. Lost is not as in “The Dead”, Lost, as in “Left”. Left for good, what he says, now.

I have a wonderful friend, who is recently been classified as a special case of Hike Syndrome, the thirst for more money through change of profession or position or place or whatever.

He was a truthful worker, though! It itself is interesting. A truthful worker changing places just for the sake of pure money. But IT’s the change. And as a great great great grand father of some one great said, Change is Consistent. So in the consistent change, he too changed.

He changed after working for 10years, for a mere hike of 600%. Who said the economy is in the worst health? Look at him, he was bought for a 600% change for a 10years trust and faith I have shown in him. Yes, money rules men (ofcourse women too, 50% reseravation : I strictly follow!). Men with little character and more greed. I don’t understand why people are mad about money!

Ofcourse I am not. I didn’t do anything bad to gain more money, like him. I never got 600% hike, not even a single time when I changed 9 places in this 10 long years. I got a mere 70%-90% hikes at these places and thats it! I never got more or even equal to 100%. I am not happy with him, because, you know, he didn’t value my trust. He just left, for money after 10 years.

And now without him, it is a tough job. There is no coffee ready by the time I wake up, no breakfast by the time I get ready to office, no cleanly washed and neatly pressed clothes for office, no tasty dinner. Let me tell you, cleaning the house is heck of a task! Beleive me! I trusted himfor all this and he left for place whose owners paid him just 1000 Rs per month and he is proud. Everyone will be, when one gets a 600% hike in recession.

You tell me, is he after money or trust? And is hike a serious enough reason to consider?
